Brian returned to his parents’ house on September 1 without Gabby, and her parents officially reported her missing on September 11. Officials have also stated that they believe Gabby’s remains were discovered in Wyoming on September 19. Brian vanished on September 14, and investigators are still looking for him.

Police in Florida Say Laundrie Returned to North Port With the Couple’s Van 10 Days Before Her Family Reported Petito Missing – But She Wasn’t With Him
Laundrie lives in North Port, Florida, so the police department there is in charge of the investigation. In a news release, they stated that he is now a “person of interest in this matter.”
“The national search for Gabrielle Petito of North Port is still ongoing.” Because the parties in this case live in North Port, Florida, the North Port Police Department will be the primary investigative agency, working in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigations. We will also continue to collaborate with the Suffolk County Police Department, and we appreciate their cooperation,” the announcement read.
“Several investigators are working around the clock to piece together this intricate and wide-ranging scenario.” Gabrielle’s car was found at her residence in North Port on September 11th. Her boyfriend Brian Laundrie and his parents share a house. That vehicle was thoroughly examined for evidence by FBI officers on Tuesday evening. Brian has not yet agreed to be interviewed by investigators or supplied any helpful information.”
“We know Brian returned here to North Port on September 1st — ten days before her family reported her missing on September 11th,” police said. We have no evidence that a crime occurred in North Port. In this instance, Brian Laundrie is a person of interest.”
